The University of Washington's Center for Urban Horticulture, part of the university's Botanic Gardens, was the site for the 2012 community service for NAIOP, the commercial real estate development association. On Saturday, September 15, more than 300 volunteers from the commercial real estate community, Botanic Gardens staff, the university and the residents in the neighborhood worked side-by-side to make improvements to the 16-acre center site, as well as the adjacent 74-acre Union Bay Natural Area.
